The Past and Future of Radio

BBC Radio 1 studio

2022 marks 100 years since the BBC was founded, and since the wireless transmissions were broadcasted by the BBC, being heard across the country by those within 30 miles of the transmitters. To celebrate the anniversary, Harry speaks to Lewis Pollard, Curator of TV and Broadcast at the Science and Media Museum and journalist Benjamin Butterworth to see how radio has changed throughout the century and to see if it will survive the next 100 years as other spoken media gains traction.

Please note; the BBC style intro is fictionally used, it was not broadcast on BBC Radio 2 and is purely for stylistic uses.
